Hmm it looks like your website ate my first
comment (it was extremely long) so I guess I’ll just sum it up
what I had written and say, I’m thoroughly enjoying your
blog. I too am an aspiring blog writer but I’m still new to everything.
Do you have any helpful hints for inexperienced blog writers?
I’d certainly appreciate it.
Thanks for reaching out. I have been blogging for almost 20 years, primarily about the hunger of our souls being satisfied by the saving work of Jesus. If you are beginning to blog, you will want to figure out your primary purpose. Write your theme statement in a short sentence including your purpose, your audience, and your main topic. Then consider the sweet spot for your writing in terms of length–is it 500 words? 300? 800? Starting with shorter posts can keep you from being wordy. Don’t try to say every thing in one post. End each post with a question–for yourself and your reader. That will give you a starting point for your next post.
Speaking of readers, who do you picture as your reader? You are writing to an individual, not to the whole world. Focusing on a certain type of person–say a 20 something career woman who is still figuring out who she is–will focus your writing. Then have fun and expect to learn as you go!
